This is try number two, after both Rich and Valken agreed with my first thought on his hair. I like this version MUCH better, hoping you all will too. Comments and critics always welcome, even if this submissions process has gotten a bit overly complicated.

Yes, they do seem to have changed the submission process, since both mine and Rich's comments seem to have gone away... odd. (this only proves how long I haven't uploaded anything... my last deviation was created in a pre-v4 stage)
Onto the drawing, then. I believe all was said in my initial comment, which I will repeat here (for formality's sake):
The shading is absolutely awesome, and the way the body fades into the wing is very nicely done. I agree with Rich, both on the part about depth (which it certainly has) and the excellent colour choice--the overally grey with the powerful hints of red lead to a both striking and somewhat tragic feeling. (the pose also adds a hint of sadness, which makes it all the more striking.)
I believe the part about the hair can be left out, now that you have fixed it up completely. What can I say now, but +FAV for an awesome drawing?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
